Privacy
What BenchCove does with your data, in plain language. Last updated October 2026.
No account, no cookies
BenchCove has no sign-up and no accounts, and does not set cookies.
Your files stay in your browser
CSV, Excel, Word, PDF, text and image files you open are read and processed in your browser. They are not uploaded to BenchCove.
The site's security policy also stops pages from sending data to other servers, except the AI Assignment Writer described below, which talks to BenchCove's own server.
What is saved, and where
Research projects, imported social analytics datasets, your study plan, project plan, GPA courses, reference list and theme choice are saved in your browser's storage (IndexedDB or localStorage) on your device only.
They are not sent anywhere. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes them, so use the backup or export options for anything you want to keep.
The AI Assignment Writer
When you press Write my assignment, the title, subject, level, type, length and instructions you entered are sent to BenchCove's server and from there to Google's Gemini API, which writes the draft. BenchCove does not store them or the draft.
Google processes this text under its own terms. On the free tier that BenchCove uses, Google may use submitted content to improve its products, so don't include personal or confidential information.
If your browser has a built-in AI model, the writer can use that instead; then nothing leaves your device.
To limit misuse, the server briefly counts requests per connection (no content is kept).
Optional on-device AI in Research
In browsers with a built-in AI model, the Research workbench can summarise source excerpts on your device. Nothing is sent to BenchCove or to an AI company.
Visit statistics and hosting
BenchCove counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and records only the page address (not the content of your work).
Like any website, the hosting provider (Vercel) processes technical request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and keep the service secure.
